JOB STATEMENT
This position is responsible for Sourcing, Purchasing and Supplier Development activities for Rubber Plant - Mould development , Fabrication , machining parts for moulding , Hand laid items ,Hardware items, Consumables and chemicals for rubber product manufacturing process.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Supply of Fabrication Components , Machining components , Hardware items, and Consumables as per Production plan and delivery dates given by Planning department.
· Develop the suppliers with respect to :
o Current product scope, and Moulds for these products.
o new products introduced to those suppliers, eg Hand Laid items , New lifter bars.
o This supplier development will be done in conjunction with the Company Location Product engineering and Quality assurance functions.
· Exposure to ERP and Microsoft Excel and able to make Purchase Order and Work Orders.
· Initiate cost savings / reductions by price negotiation, Identifying & selecting the most cost effective vendor/suppliers base for cost effective procurement
· Deals with Tool development for Rubber, Plastics, and sheet metal which involve intensive costing and negotiations.
· Developing supplier process, capacity etc.
· Contracting, Scheduling and timely procurement from local and overseas vendors.
RELATIONSHIPS & AUTHORITY
• Report directly to Manager –Supply Chain .
• Coordinate with the following departments .
-Planning , Production, Customer Support, Quality.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
· Engineering degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering .
· Minimum 6-8 years' experience in purchasing with emphasis on Supply ,Sourcing and Supplier development
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· computer literacy is essential – Ms Excel and Word.
· Experience in SAP R/3 Purchasing and / or other logistics modules will be a distinct advantage.
· Good negotiating skills
· Driver and self starter with good communication skills .

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is predominantly situated in an office environment and work shops.
